Kong Wobbler

I introduced Eden to the Kibble Nibble today but she was more bent on the destruction of the toy than figuring out how to get the kibble out (obviously, her method would have worked eventually...). So, I switched to the Wobbler, which she can't pick up and carry around. She had so much fun working for her dinner and it was funny to see her puzzle it out too. She's a spunky little squirt!

Toy Drive

Every day I work with Eden on some very basic behaviors. Sit, down, stay (I'm using a new method, where I don't actually use the word stay and where my release word is not "ok"), come, responding to her name/knowing her name and also tugging/chasing/retrieving. It's really important to me that she increase her toy drive and that I can lure her and get her excited with treats as well.

This is her current favorite toy...and spot to lay, probably because it's nice and cool and the rest of the apartment is carpet.

Trust Test

I am constantly doing little, annoying things with my dogs to push their buttons, put them outside of their comfort zone and try and figure out their thresholds. Today, I put Eden in a big cardboard box on the coffee table and then made her wait there (she has absolutely no concept of the word stay or any other obedience command really...nor her name) while I got my camera out and took some pictures.

She wasn't terribly sure about the whole thing at first:
Then she decided it might be better to sit instead of making the box more tippy:
I like how her personality matches the slogan on the box...

Picking My New Girl Up!

Today I picked up my new little girlie. When I got to the airport, I brought her straight outside to potty and the name that came out of my mouth when I called her was...Eden! Sooo, meet Eden!!

The girl has some prey drive - she wanted to take off after the geese in this picture (you can click the picture to get it larger):
Little bit of a picture overload here, I was just so excited to find out how cute she is! And she's exactly like Jason said - very, very sweet. Quite clingy, very solid, stable temperament though - which is what I wanted specifically. Need to give her some time to get used to me, new place, new surroundings, new everything. She is quite photogenic though :-)
She already has a really nifty trick - bubble blowing!
No one can say this face isn't stinkin' cute!!!
She's getting the hang of the new house/bed/toys quite well
Getting sleepy....
She's the friendly sort...once she gets over that just about every other dog she meets is bigger/taller than her. hehe
And she smiles A LOT.

My Corgi is Picked Up for Shipment!

Jason went and picked up my little Cardi girl today. He will be shipping her off to me tomorrow. Here are some pictures he sent of her:
He says that she is everything that her breeder has claimed her to be. She's sweet - really, really sweet - submissive, friendly and seems to be a really nice, nice dog. We'll see once she gets here and settles in if she's got what it takes to be my next flyball/agility dog!

Getting a Cardigan Welsh Corgi

It's official! I have adopted this little girl right here!
She is just over a year old now, although I do have puppy pictures, courtesy of her amazing breeder! This is her dam:

This is her sire:
This is the litter she is from, she is the puppy on the left:
Here are some more adorable puppy pictures!
Her breeder had originally held her back as a conformation prospect, however, her bite has gone level (a fault) so he just wanted to place her into a solid pet home. He had hopes for a performance home and after extensive emails and a phone conversation we agreed that I might be the perfect fit for her. He sent me these pictures and I was immediately smitten with her - LOVE the white spot in her ear and the brindle thumb-print on the top of her noggin'. She's just stinkin' adorable!

Her brother was also a conformation prospect and his bite went level as well, he is still available to a pet home. Here he is with my new little girl:
She is going in to be spayed soon and then we're going to wait for her to recover before she is shipped to me, her new home!
